Saturday Golf

Oh man, what a brutal, humbling, marathon round of golf at Gleneagles.  I played pretty well last weekend at Alameda's Chuck Corica, but today just reminded me how much of a hack I am.  Really thought today would be my breakthrough round.  My new TaylorMade "draw" driver has been working, and my new Bridgestone wedge has been giving me a lot of confidence around the green.  Add to that a new GPS unit and a new staff/tour bag, I thought I'd be unstoppable today.  Didn't go as plan.

Felt really bad for my co-worker's wife.  Gleneagles is not a place for beginners.  There's only one set of tees (no woman's tees), the fairways are fairly narrow, every hole is guarded by bunkers, and the greens ain't easy.  Hope she didn't get too frustrated and gives up golf, although after that round I wouldn't blame her.

Best part of the day was I confirmed that my Bridgestone mini staff bag fits on carts.  Was worried that it was too deep to fit, but it does.  Really like the bag's larger opening, allows for easier access to clubs.  Tempted to get my name stitched on the front like the pros.  That might be too much though.  Maybe if I score in the 80s I'll get it stitched.

The Neo iGolf GPS unit was handy, but the way I was playing today it didn't really save me any strokes.  Very easy to use, and the "shot" feature, which allows you to measure each shot's distance, was a nice added bonus.  Pretty fast too, no noticeably delay in location triangulation.  Highly recommended, especially at $150.
