Found out today you don't need a Kindle to buy Kindle edition books. Amazon has released (for some time now) free PC and Mac software for viewing Kindle books. Great news for me since I love the instant gratification of e-books but won't spend the $300-$500 on a Kindle.
First purchase: Golf is Not a Game of Perfect by Dr. Bob Rotella. Rotella is a sports psychologist and the book is mainly about the mental aspect of the game. Great read so far. Nothing he says is earth shattering but it's good re-enforcement. Actually has re-inspired me a little. Was getting frustrated (see last blog) but after reading the first few chapters I'm re-energized. Here's a few things that caught my attention.
Gotta dream big. You're a 30 handicapper, who cares, still dream that you'll break 60, because only a person with great dreams can achieve great things. Anything less you'll just be stuck in mediocrity.
Gotta find joy in the process not the end result. Frustration and set backs are almost guaranteed and you may never achieve the result you dreamed. But somehow you need to find enjoyment in the journey.
Hot streaks reveal your true abilities. This one I find intriguing because I've always thought of hot streaks as mostly luck. But Rotella argues that hot streaks represent your true physical abilities once you start trusting yourself. It's a matter of trusting yourself so hot streaks come more often.
