My Boring, Non-Poly Life

I don’t recall exactly why I started watching this video about Lindy West, but I did, and concluded I have a very boring life. If you have no idea who Lindy West is, you are not alone. I had no idea who she was either. But somehow this video about her appeared on my YouTube feed.

She’s apparently a well known writer, comedian, and activist. I think she’s also a feminist. The video was about her polyamory relationship and whether she was coerced into poly by her boyfriend. TMZ gossip for the progressives.

The entire video I thought to myself, man, my life is so vanilla compared to these people. While I’m not The Most Interesting Man in the World, I have always fancied myself fairly adventurous, intriguing. Traveled quite a bit, some cool hobbies, etc. But these people, Lindy, her boyfriend, his girlfriend, their lives are just so much more. More chaotic. More wow.

I mean how do you even get into poly? Is it like drugs, where maybe you have a friend of friend who persuades you to smoke a joint at a party, and next thing you know you’re doing lines of coke and shooting heroin? Is it like gambling where you visit Las Vegas for a work convention and next thing you know you owe 50 grand to some bookie betting Cowboys -3.5? Is there like a poly club you can go to where everyone is there looking to form a polycule? I guess if I was that interested I would do the actual research. But alas, I’ve accepted by boring, non-poly life. But I suppose if I had a friend of a friend…
